Causes of travel and how to solve it

Motion sickness is new to our bodies. When traveling by car, plane or boat, it is not uncommon for the body to feel like vomiting, weakness, and dizziness ... for no reason. Why does the body sometimes react like this during travel? Are there any ways to prevent motion sickness? Check out the causes and ways to prevent it below.

Cause you are motion sickness

From a physical side
Motion sickness can be experienced by anyone, pregnant women and vulnerable children when traveling to a place. For people traveling by boat, plane or even car, nausea and dizziness are referred to as motion sickness or "nausea" which is caused by movement. Why is the name like this?

You see, travel is caused by mixed signals sent to the brain by the eye and inner ear. But the fact is that when we are in a moving vehicle, your body is definitely in a sitting position or is still in a position, but your eyes and ears are looking around the journey. This is called motion sickness, because your sight and hearing are moving, but your body is still.

Then, for the body that is not used to this, the brain will send signals to the body. The part of the brain called the thalamus will look for what information is wrong from your body. After getting a conclusion from your body, it usually ends with the conclusion that your body is poisoned. So that your brain will react to remove toxins in the body by regurgitating them or sending a nauseous and dizzy reaction.

From the side of the vehicle
This motion sickness condition is also triggered or exacerbated by pungent and unpleasant odors such as cigarette smoke and vehicle fragrances. Because during the trip you can't move or avoid it, the body that smells will react to it. The body usually reacts by causing nausea and dizziness.

Lack of oxygen levels and high levels of carbon dioxide in the vehicle, as well as bad vehicle suspension systems and uneven roads are also contributing to your motion sickness.

Another risk factor for motion sickness is fear and danger during travel. Poor travel ventilation and even your inability to see conditions outside the window of the vehicle you are driving.

Tips for preventing motion sickness

1. Eat first before leaving

Nausea during the trip is also caused by an empty stomach. Gastric acid will increase until the stomach rises to the top and causes nausea. Especially if you previously had a history of poor gastric health. So you have to try to eat 1-1.5 hours before traveling. Greasy foods, spicy foods, and soft drinks, which will aggravate nausea and dizziness on the way.

2. Take motion sickness medication

It is the safest and simplest thing to do. This hangover drug usually if taken will cause a deep feeling of drowsiness. Automatically, your eyes and ears will "rest" the sensor and avoid nausea on the road.

3. Avoid playing gadgets or reading books, don't forget to take a break
Playing gadgets or reading books while traveling will only make your eyes, ears, and brain mess up in digesting information. By doing these activities you will only increase the risk of nausea and dizziness .... Don't forget to give your body a break. If you are sleepy and tired, don't force yourself to stay awake, let your body rest so it can be refreshed during the trip.
